Better Platform for Participatory Democracy

We should implement systems that allow for everyday people to be on the same level as lobbyists in deciding policy. This was put into practice after 9/11, when a special platform was put in place to decide what to do with ground zero. A similar experiment was carried out in France in 2016. In that case, the discussion began with an online public consultation, until 18 October 2015, then, enriched with proposals from Internet users, the law was debated and voted in the National Assembly from 19 to 26 January 2016 [3][4][5]. It follows the “Digital Ambition” consultation led by Benoit Thieulin and Yann Bonnet, as part of the work of the National Digital Council[6][7]. Our elected officials should be readily accessible to New York City residents, and as Public Advocate I will ensure that systems are implemented for residents to be heard. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loi_pour_une_R%C3%A9publique_num%C3%A9rique
